Funding program for
grape cultivation startups

Berytech and Université Saint-Joseph (USJ) have launched a program to provide financial and training support for 30 entrepreneurs to help them create startups engaged in grape cultivation and the exploitation of the by-products of wine making.

The ‘New Business Opportunities and Environmental Sustainability’ program that uses MED GRAPE nanotechnological products BESTMEDGRAPE will support the creation of these startups through transfer of scientific and technological knowledge.

Ten potential entrepreneurs will be awarded €5,000 ($5,900) to develop a business idea around grape growing, and will also benefit from consulting services.

The project is financed by the European Union (EU) under the program ENI CBC “Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2014-2020”.
The by-products will be a source of bioactive compounds that can be transformed into innovative commercial health products, according to Berytech.

Awardees will be trained on how to integrate managerial and scientific knowledge, develop problem solving and managerial skills, and analyze entrepreneurial and market opportunities, in addition to acquiring pitching and networking skills. Workshops will take place from January 2021 to August 2022.

Applications must be submitted before Dec. 6, 2020.
